Canna Banana Sundaze

The Summer of Snacks continues! This week CannMart is featuring one of our most popular products, Banana Chips by Rilaxe in a Banana Split dessert. Working with pre-made edibles can be a simple and quick process for creating an infused dish, however, we are putting a gourmet twist on this recipe. We’ve added some extra elements to prepare a simple, yet flavour baked dessert. It’s the perfect way to cool down after a hot day in the sunshine, or break out during a backyard gathering. Who doesn’t love an ice cream social? 

The Canna Banana Sundaze is a tailored recipe that consists of subtle hints of saltiness and sweetness. It has a fantastic balance of textures from the crisp caramelized bananas.

Sugar Glazed Banana Base:

  • ½ c of granulated sugar
  • 4 lg ripe (but still firm) bananas
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 c heavy cream
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ c powdered sugar
  • 2 scoops of almond vanilla ice cream
  • 4 oz semi-sweet Baker’s chocolate 

Topping/Infusion:

2 packs of Canna Banana (4 x 2.5mg of THC per pack, 10mg total) per person, or your desired potency amount


INSTRUCTIONS:

Slice the bananas lengthwise in half to equal then sliced ¼ inch thick. Pour your sugar onto a plate and roll the bananas in the sugar, completely covering each slice. Place your butter in a cast iron pan (recommended for recipe execution) on medium/high heat until it's completely melted. Immediately after, add the sugar coated bananas and let the bananas cook until they are golden brown on each side. This usually takes  4-5 minutes. Once completed remove your bananas from the pan and begin placing them in your sunday bowl.

For your whipping cream pour your heavy cream into a mixer with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Pulsate until your cream has prominent peaks when stirred or pulled up. Put aside for serving.

Next is the melted chocolate. With a medium-sized pot fill it up with water and put it on high heat and let the water boil. Once the water is boiling, turn town to a low temp simmer and place a medium-sized mixing bowl in the pot – this is what we call un bain marie. Using a metal or glass bowl is preferred and make sure it is heat safe!

Break down your portions of the semi-sweet chocolate into smaller pieces and place it in the mixing bowl. With a mixing spoon or spatula continuously mix and churn the semi-sweet chocolate until it’s melted into a creamy consistency. Put aside for later applications to your dish.

Plating:

Place your golden crisped bananas in a bowl or plate for serving. Add your almond vanilla ice cream, with a heaping scoop of whipped cream (or more if you prefer). Start drizzling spoonfuls of your melted chocolate on top. Crush your Canna Banana chips for an extra layer of crunch and sprinkle extra powdered sugar to finish off your plating.

Terpene Pairing & Infusion Breakdown:

Bananas contain limonene, myrcene and eugenol terpenes. Myrcene and limonene add the fruity tropical flavor to this fruit, and eugenol adds a layer of sweet clove-like undertones. Rilaxe uses a distillate to infuse their dried fruit edibles, without the overpowering taste of cannabis. The terpenes that are contained in the ‘Saba’ dried bananas are complemented by the vanilla and sugar cripsed banana base. Because Rilaxe products taste natural, it becomes quite easy to double up on the types of fruits. Banana split sundays are also a classic recipe- making application of terpene pairings a simpler process. 

Remember that this recipe is made for 2 people, and each dish contains 2 packs of Canna Banana for individual servings of 10mg THC. Dose your preferred amount per person.
